Would I be able to sue my ex-roommate for defamation of character?

Would I be able to sue my ex-roommate for defamation of character?

79 days ago      |   Follow-up

For months my ex-roommate Allison has been saying terrible things about me that are untrue to students and staff at my school. I could end up in jail or have my reputation ruined.

Things that Allison said happened

  1. I poisoned her coffee with alcohol while she wasn’t looking
  2. I said that I would harm her dog when she gets it
  3. I said that she would harm her dog when she gets it
  4. My roommates pinned her down while I choked her
  5. The police broke down our door and tried to tase me, but they missed and tased her instead
  6. The police broke down our door and tased me
  7. I followed her on the bus and made a slashing motion on my throat to scare her
  8. I tried to get her to do drugs
  9. I forced my religion onto her
  10. I threw knives at her

None of these things happened, and nothing she said was even exaggerated; it just didn’t happen. I got all this information from staff at Clemson that questioned me and a few classmates told me that she told them the same thing.

Things that Allison did

  1. Harassed and made my boyfriend extremely uncomfortable
  2. Leave her bloody pads out in our room and pad garbage on the floor
  3. Steal my extension cord and my roommate’s expo markers (and deny it when confronted)
  4. Tell everyone lies about me and my roommates including telling my classmates that I am “dangerous” and they can’t leave their guard down around me which could ruin our reputation and/or get us arrested
  5. She went into Redfern medical center while I was waiting to pick up some medication, and she was talking about the whole dog situation with a random girl so I can only assume she has spread lies to other people.
  6. Lie on all her paperwork when trying to get a dog to train through puppies with a purpose
  7. Found my mom on Facebook and messaged her saying “Hey, is lily OK? She’s been uncharacteristically cruel.” My mom doesn’t even know her; they met at lunch once.
  8. A few weeks later she commented on my mom’s Facebook post of my family visiting me in Clemson saying “Glad to see someone’s having fun after spinning me into my worst nightmare” my mom blocked her after seeing this.
  9. I have blocked her on everything except this past month I have noticed that Allison found my TikTok profile and has been viewing it periodically, I blocked her on that as well.
  10. Told me that she would report me for harassing her when I was just asking her to give me my extension cord back.

I do not believe I deserve this harassment and all I wish is for her to leave me alone before she hurts my image even more. All I did was send an email to Puppies with a Purpose explaining valid reasons why we did not want a dog because Allison would not listen and lied on her paperwork to bypass us. I have all messages and emails that were exchanged in my phone if needed. I’m not sure if the buses that bring students to Tri-County Technical have cameras on them but if they did the footage would show that I was minding my business and did not do any throat slashing motion.
